The gay indie rocker's latest is a “bittersweet ode to romance and the passing of time.”

Now that your 4th of July block parties are over, it's time to tune in to a different kind of Bloc Party. The British indie band's frontman Kele Okereke just released a new track that's a perfect, melancholy jam for long, sunset walks. On "Streets Been Talking," the artist ditches the vibrant, electronic beats of his previous albums The Boxer and Trick in favor of souring drums and horns and lilting lyrics about a "bittersweet ode to romance and the passing of time."

The surprise single comes with alongside the announcement of Okereke's third solo release, Fatherland, which drops on October 6th and features vocals from Years and Years' Olly Alexander and Corinne Bailey Rae. The gay indie rocker's latest release will also be the first under his full name, which he started using with May's release of the single "Yemaya" and will focus (as the title suggests) on his newfound fatherhood.

"I'm fully conscious that this record is probably going to serve as a document for Savannah of the relationship between her fathers and who we were before she came into our lives," he explained of he and his partner's first child. "It feels important for her to see that we don't have all the answers but we're trying."
