The saga continues.

A new crowdfunding campaign has launched to bid for bankrupt Gawker.com, hoping "preserve its history--and write its future."

That's according to the description for SaveGawker.com, a Kickstarter campaign organized by former Gawker Media employees. The site and its assets are going to auction, and the campaign hopes to place a bid in order to keep Gawker.com away from "the person who drove the site into bankruptcy."

The campaign organizers likely refer to tech billionaire Peter Thiel, who bankrolled a lawsuit against the site allegedly as payback for outing Thiel as gay in 2007. Thiel has been fighting in court over the sale of the site, claiming he has been unfairly excluded from bidding.

The campaign's goal is $500,000. Watch the launch video below.
