Tony Marrero told the "Rise" singer that her song "helped me from the day I was in the hospital all the way to now."

Settle in and get ready to cry.

Talk-show host Ellen DeGeneres sat down with Tony Marrero, a survivor from the Pulse nightclub shooting, this week to talk his recovery. In typical Ellen fashion, the show host surprised Marrero and her audience alike by casually asking if he wanted to meet Katy Perry, whose song, "Rise," was among Marrero's favorites.

That's when Perry walked on stage, and she and Marrero both embraced and teared up.

"My hands are shaking!" the singer said.

Marrero thanked the singer for the song and noted how much "Rise" helped him during his recovery.

"Your lyrics to that song helped me from the day I was in the hospital all the way to now," he said. "Thank you."

The song, which was chosen as the anthem for the Rio Olympics this year, has been adopted by several LGBT artists as a tribute to the 49 people who died and 53 who were injured during the attack this June.
