When Kay decided to tell her 15-year-old sister she was gay she expected to receive support, but she got a whole lot more.

"It was very spur-of-the-moment," Kay told BuzzFeed News about coming out. "But I felt like it was time."

Kay told her sister the news via text message.

"I love you no matter what," her sister Sam replied. "...I guess I can tell you now that I'm bisexual too."

"At first I was shocked, and I almost thought she was joking around to make me feel more comfortable," Kay said, "but then I realized she wasn't one to joke around."

Kay tweeted their screenshotted conversation out and it immediately began to resonate with people around the world.

The good news later continued when Kay came out to her parents who apparently already knew.
