Remember when kids movies were all about fun?
Apparently Pixar will continue to tug on our heartstrings with Inside Out, a new animated feature whose lead characters are emotions trapped inside a little girl's brain. Funny lady Amy Poehler chatted with Jimmy Kimmel about her role as the emotion Joy.
"It's a really great movie," she said, "it's beautiful, and really, really deep, and sad -- it's so sad you're going to cry your balls off."
While Kimmel seemed surprised, it only feels logical to us Disney Pixar aficionados. If you managed to make it through the first few scenes of Up without crying, you either have no heart, or you're a liar. And everyone who saw Toy Story 3 left the theater sobbing.
Poehler also told the late night host that one of the difficulties with Joy was to make sure that her character was joyful but "wasn't coming across like a lunatic."
She added: "If you're happy all the time, you're usually a sociopath or you're on a little bit of molly every day." After that, the conversation goes off-track when Poehler finds out that Kimmel's wife is named Molly. *Insert "on Molly" joke here*
