Well known within the "twitterverse" as an unequivocally forthright opinion sharer, hip-hop star Azealia Banks will be creating a different kind of drama in a new film entitled Coco.
Directed by Wu Tang Clan's RZA, the movie follows a passionate 20-something female rapper from Brooklyn, Coco (played by Banks), trying to work her way into the hip-hop world. The film will follow Coco in her struggles to pursue a rap career while trying to fulfill her parents' expectations of finishing college. In a bumpy road to stardom, our protagonist later finds light and love in the realm of spoken word.
In a press release, RZA expressed great enthusiasm in being able to collaborate with the rapper-turned-actress. "I'm extremely excited and vigorously inspired to be working with Azealia Banks in my new directorial installment," he says. "Our story, which is set in today's contemporary youth culture, will bring a new voice to cinema that needs to be."
