Taylor Swift’s ‘Bad Blood’ Video: A Flex of Power

Taylor Swift’s ‘Bad Blood’ Video: A Flex of Power

Taylor Swift

Don’t cross her — or her army of famous female friends.

Last night at the Billboard Music Awards, Taylor Swift premiered the video for Kendrick Lamar's remix of "Bad Blood," which has been getting hyped for weeks as she revealed, and kept revealing, all of her famous friends that had parts in it.

While it's widely accepted that the song is about Swift's falling out with fellow pop icon Katy Perry, the video transcends the lyrics. Opening with Swift and bestie Selena Gomez (with whom she reportedly hit a rough patch with last year regarding Justin Bieber) doing their best ode to Kill Bill by beating up masked and suited men in an office building. After the dust settles Gomez's character, Arsyn, betrays Swift's Catastrophe and kicks her out of a window.

The rest of the video is Swift's character recovering and all of her famous friends (with assassin codenames) teaching her the skills she needs to exact her revenge. If by the end of the video you haven't caught on, the overarching theme here is: "Don't fuck with Taylor Swift." It wasn't a secret that the singer had friends in the industry and a certain amount of influence, but this video details just how strong her pull is.
