The penciled eyebrows, glittery blue eye shadow, and sparkly red lipstick have now transformed the face of Glee star Darren Criss in the latest promo for Broadway's Hedwig and the Angry Inch, which he tweeted out. Criss takes over the role April 29 from show creator John Cameron Mitchell (who has been performing with a crutch and in a leg cast since an onstage knee energy), and will remain in the limited engagement through July 19.
Rebecca Naomi Jones debuts tonight, April 14, as Yitzhak, taking over for Lena Hall, who won a Tony for her role as Hedwig's husband.
The show itself is about to reach its one-year anniversary, having opened April 22, 2014 (with previews beginning March 29).
So just a few more days to see what sort of "the slip of a girly-boy from East Berlin" Criss will bring to the iconic stage role.
