With Magic Mike XXL on the horizon (July 1, mark your calendars), we almost forgot about the proposed stage musical, which we first got wind of back in 2013. Well rest assured it hasn't gone away.
"It is still in the works," Magic Mike star Channing Tatum told EW. "We're getting it going. Oddly enough, the second [film] lends itself more to the musical. I think our original idea was to do a prequel, like how Mike got in."
As for a potential Magic Mike threequel, Tatum says never say never.
"I really don't know. I wish I could say yeah because we have so much fun on them. I'm never gonna say never, but if we did it--because the first one is so different from the second one--I would probably just try and change it again."
