Naked Man Seen Climbing Out of Buckingham Palace
Britain’s first family get frisky in preparation for The Royals
Over the weekend, a video appeared online showing a naked man repelling down the facade of Buckingham Palace on a rope made of tied-together bed sheets. Understandably, the internet sort of lost it's mind. Captured by Swedish tourists, the video quickly topped 1 millions views on YouTube. It also sent publications like Cosmopolitan and Britain's Daily Mail into a tailspin as they tried to determine whether it was just an elaborate hoax, or if there was some serious sexual drama happening in The Queen's own home.
Darren Boyle for the Mail Onlinereported that none of the guards or soldiers seemed to notice anything. He also reached out to the palace, the Metropolitan Police, and London Ambulance Service to see if there had been any reports or complaints. Alex Rees writing for Cosmopolitan wrote: "But this is a NAKED MAN climbing out of BUCKINGHAM PALACE, for cripes sake; were it legit, the United Kingdom would be in a state of gossipy meltdown, and as a current resident of the United Kingdom, I can report that it is not." Rees went on to hypothesize that it could very well have been a stunt for E!'s new scripted drama, The Royals, which airs in the United States on March 15. Today it has been learned that he was, indeed, correct.
The Royals follows the lives of a fictional royal family set in present day London. Aside from the setting however, the family of King Simon (Vincent Regan) and Queen Helena (Elizabeth Hurley) could not be more different from that of Britain's stoic and reserved Queen Elizabeth II. Hedonism runs rampant behind the walls of Buckingham Palace, and the lives of Princes Cyrus (Jake Maskall) and Liam (William Moseley) and Princess Eleanor (Alexandra Park) revolve around sex and scheming, drugs and drink, blackmail and betrayal. Throughout everything, D-Throned, the show's fictional tabloid, is there to capture all the juicy gossip. Watch below to see their coverage of the naked escape, the latest in a long line of scandal.
The Royals premiers on March 15 at 10pm, on E!
