Marsha P. Johnson in blonde wig, 1983.

Opening September 12, Daniel Cooney Fine Art presents their 4th show of Arlene Gottfried's sexy and uninhibited back rooms and night clubs of Lower East Side New York, circa 1980.
Gottfried was a habitue of GG Barnum, Le Cirque, and Paradise Garage, as well as roller rinks, dance-a-thons, dive bars, and back alleys.
Through her close friendship with Miguel Pinero, the famed playwright and poet, she was introduced to the dangerous underground of heroin dens.
Her personal work covered the fringes of night life, but her regard for her subjects was respectful and full of compassion.
Arlene Gottfried's work will be on exhibit at Daniel Cooney Fine Art from September 12 through October 26.
