Actor, comedian, and podcaster Matt Rogers explains that his “function in the world is to make people happier than they were before we interacted.” With stars like Lady Gaga, Cate Blanchett, Chappell Roan, and Sarah Jessica Parker appearing as guests, Rogers and his Las Culturistas cohost, Bowen Yang, are clearly succeeding.
And then there were the 2025 Las Culturistas Culture Awards, broadcast on Bravo for the first time, and now streaming on Peacock. The awards-show spoof (memorably, Jeff Goldblum’s chest won Most Amazing Impact in Film) was lauded as a comedic triumph by critics and fans. “I just can’t believe it all ended up resulting in that huge event when it all started out as a joke on the podcast,” Rogers marvels. And even while “battling with the idea that its success or failure was riding” on the two hosts, Rogers appreciates how much he learned about himself in the process.
“I want all queer people out there to know that I have their backs and I love them,” says Rogers. “There are people out there who want us to be afraid of being ourselves. Don’t let them win.” @mattrogerstho
