Out100: Robbie Rogers

Soccer Star

Photography by Danielle Levitt

When Robbie Rogers took to his website last February to announce he was gay, he knew exactly what he was doing. "I didn't want to be one of those people who are always unhappy and don't try to change anything," he told Out this summer. "I thought, Now that you're 25, make a change because you have the power to do it."

Rogers, who plays with the Los Angeles Galaxy and was a member of the U.S. squad at the Beijing Olympics, is now determined to help other young athletes learn from his experience. In addition to joining the advisory board of Athlete Ally and co-hosting the GLSEN Respect Awards, which fights bullying in schools, he is working on a memoir.
