Hello Out readers.
Those of you familiar with Christian music will probably know the name Michael Tait. He was an original member of the band DC Talk, worked as a solo artist, and later joined the Newsboys. He's known for songs like "Jesus Freak" and "God's Not Dead."
Now, he's also known for being accused by eight men of sexual assault.
In June, Christian news site The Roys Report wrote that Tait had been accused of sexual assault by three men. A few days later, The Guardian reported accounts from three others.
A new report by The Guardian reveals even more accusers, bringing the number of men who have alleged Tait sexually abused them to eight.
Many of the men say they met Tait during their time in the Christian music industry or while trying to break into it.
After the first set of allegations, Tait published a confession on Instagram where he admitted that "recent reports of my reckless and destructive behavior, including drug and alcohol abuse and sexual activity, are sadly, largely true."
In the statement, he said he "might dispute certain details" in the accusations, but admitted to touching "men in an unwanted sensual way" and said he does not dispute the "substance" of the allegations.
Tait has yet to respond to the second set of allegations.
