This Politician Blamed Mass Shootings On Trans People, Drag Queens

Candice Keller

And gay marriage and President Obama too!

In the latest episode of Republicans Say The Darndest Things, an Ohio lawmaker is blaming mass shootings on trans people, gay marriage, and drag queens.

"After every mass shooting, the liberals start the blame game. Why not place the blame where it belongs?" State Representative Candice Keller wrote in a post to her Facebook page Sunday, according to The Enquirer. She went on to name who she feels is at fault.

"The breakdown of the traditional American family(thank you, transgender, homosexual marriage, and drag queen advocates)," she writes. "Fatherlessness, a subject no one discusses or believes is relevant; the ignoring of violent video games; the relaxing of laws against criminals(open borders); the acceptance of recreational marijuana; failed school policies(hello, parents who defend misbehaving students): disrespect to law enforcement(thank you, Obama)."

My Lorde! Basically, she blamed everyone and everything except the person pulling the trigger and the elected officials who have yet to take any meaningful action on gun control.

Keller's comments came in the wake of two mass shootings in El Paso, Texas and Dayton, Ohio, in which more than 29 people were murdered and more injured. Though the post is no longer visible to the public, Keller, who is running for the Ohio Senate in Butler County in 2020, confirmed in a text to The Enquirer she wrote it and that it's still on her Facebook page.

Luckily, I suppose, not all of the Republicans in Keller's community support her thoughts.

"Some want to politicize these events, and I cannot condone such comment and behavior," Butler County Republican Party Chairman Todd Hall told The Enquirer.

Butler County Sheriff Rick Jones also voiced his disapproval of Keller's words, tweeting "Shame shame shame Candice Keller."
