During CIA Director Mike Pompeo's confirmation hearing to become Secretary of State, Senator Cory Booker interrogated him about his stance on the rights of LGBTQ+ Americans.
In the past, Pompeo has stood firmly against marriage equality and has also implicated that gay sex is a "perversion." Booker asked Pompeo about both of these stances during the hearing.

"When I was a politician, I had a very clear view on whether it was appropriate for two same-sex persons to marry," Pompeo said. "I stand by that."
Booker asked Pompeo to clarify if he still thought it was not "appropriate" for same-sex couples to marry, to which he responded, "Senator, I continue to hold that view."
Pompeo equivocated when asked whether or not he still thought gay sex was a perversion.

Pompeo has had a long history of being an enemy to the LGBTQ+ community. We can only hope that he will not be confirmed.
