After much speculation, Cynthia Nixon has declared her intent to run for governor of New York in a campaign video posted today to Twitter.
"New York is where I was raised and where I'm raising my kids," she says in the video, focusing on schooling and wealth inequity. "I was given chances I just don't see for most of New York's kids today. Our leadership is letting us down. We are now the most unequal state in the entire country, with both incredible wealth and extreme poverty."

Rumors have been circulating since last year about a gubernatorial run from Nixon and were all but confirmed a couple weeks ago when she began gathering what looked to be a campaign staff.
