Trump Doesn’t Even Know How He’s Going to Implement His Transgender Ban

In an unsurprising non-twist, there are currently no details set out to begin implementation of the ban on transgender individuals serving in the military that Donald Trump called for earlier this week.

The declaration, so far restricted to only a series of Tweets made by Trump, has yet to be translated into a proper proposal to the Pentagon or turned into a formal order from Secretary of Defense James "Mad Dog" Mattis.

Trump argued that the United States military, the most-funded in the entire world, "cannot be burdened with the tremendous medical costs and disruption that transgender in the military would entail."

When asked about the announcement during a later press briefing, Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders was the one to admit that no details had been worked out prior to the social media announcement. "The White House will work with the Department of Defense and all of the relevant parties to make sure that we fully implement this policy moving forward and do so in a lawful manner," she said. When pressed for details she said: "Well, like I said, they are going to have to work out the details on how that all moves forward to lawfully implement that policy change from this point."

Whether or not Trump's half-baked policy change comes to fruition, he'll meet opposition every step of the way.

"Today further exposed Trump's overall goal to erase LGBTQ Americans from this nation," said Sarah Kate Ellis, President and CEO of GLAAD. "Trump has never been a friend to LGBTQ Americans and this action couldn't make that any more clear."
