Lil Nas X Wins Billboard Music Award, Promises Greatest Album

While onstage in an iconic look, the young artist told fans to look out for 'Nasvember.'

Though we've been doing virtual awards ceremonies for months now, they still don't feel entirely normal. Such was the case with the Billboard Music Awards tonight which was conducted without an audience, and really only the presenters, winners, and performers in attendance. On the whole, the result felt a little empty and dull. But still, audience favorites like BTS, Billie Eilish, and Harry Styles took home awards. And of his 13 nods, Lil Nas X took home one as well.

Though his runaway hit "Old Town Road" is pretty heavily awarded already, it picked up another, winning Top Hot 100 Song. The track, which was a collaboration with Billy Ray Cyrus, beat out others like Lizzo's "Truth Hurts," and Billie Eilish's "Bad Guy." And while some musicians get up on stage and tell their life story, Lil Nas X kept it short and to the point.

"What?" he said coming to the empty stage. "Thank you to everybody. Thank you to Billy Ray Cyrus. I want everybody to be on the lookout next month for Nasvember. It's going to go crazy. In 2021, I'm dropping the greatest album of all time. I love you goodnight."

Yes, short and to the point.

This isn't the first time the star has intimated he's slated for a big moment. Earlier this month he posted on Instagram that he was "gettin in shape for the biggest era of my life thus far." He followed that up today on Instagram Stories saying that 2021 "gonna be me in God mode." While the details of his next album aren't known, a track that he's previewed called "Call Me By Your Name" is hotly anticipated.

While we'll have to have to wait for that, in the meantime we can appreciate the look he wore to the Billboard Music Awards. A head to toe Gucci look with a pussy-bow blouse and his hair styled into a curly bang? Wow, what a moment.
