Experiencing a specific kind of romance-induced exhaustion this Valentine’s Day? Fed up with seeing happy couples all around you engaging in PDA and making you feel even more lonely? Eating candy hearts in bed with your vibrator until you cry yourself to sleep? Deleting all of the gooey love songs off of your Spotify playlist? Lauv and Troye Sivan can relate. “I’m So Tired” isn’t just the memoir title they stole from me, it’s their catchy new track about being fed up with romance. The duo dropped a music video for the song just in time for Valentine’s Day, and it’s the sad little bop those of us without a boo were waiting for.
“Strangers, killing my lonely nights with strangers/And when they leave, I go back to our song, I hold on,” laments Sivan from his perch atop a moving car — unsafe! — before giving Lorde a shoutout. “Hurts like heaven, lost in the sound/Buzz cut season like you're still around/Can't unmiss you and I need you now.” Sivan and Lauv spend the video apathetically watching various lovers canoodle, which is super relatable if you’ve ever tried to ignore a couple rounding third base on the subway at 4 p.m.
For someone singing about being tired of love songs, Sivan has written quite a few of them, and he also just celebrated his three year anniversary with hunky boyfriend Jacob Bixenman on February 10. “3 years today. luckiest boy alive. love you lots,” Sivan wrote on Instagram beside a photo of the couple. So you have a boyfriend and you’re singing about hating love songs? Appropriating single bitterness, I see...Happy Valentine’s Day!
