Nicki Minaj must have seen that Lady Gaga was planning to call her next album Adele and said “hold my beer” because she’s revealed that she is recording an “epic” song with the queen of British vocals. It may even be coming sooner than you think.
Minaj was speaking with Entertainment Tonight at the launch party for her fashion line Fendi Prints On (girl, is that legal?) when she was asked if she planned to collaborate with Adele. “Yes and yes, yes and yes, woo hoo!” she exclaimed. But the rapper added: “Adele made me swear to secrecy that I’m not allowed to tell anyone that I’m working with her. And that we already shot a video. And it’s an epic song!” Cut to Adele calling her lawyers.
The “Rolling in the Deep” singer has publicly fangirled over Minaj in the past. During her Carpool Karaoke ride with James Corden, the Brit confessed her love for the rapper and destroyed a rendition of Minaj’s verse from Kanye West’s “Monster.” Maybe they’ll promote their new song with a trip to a gay bar? Someone check if Jennifer Lawrence is free!
But it’s interesting to hear that the twoare collaborating, considering Minaj’s recent tweet that she was quitting music. “I’ve decided to retire & have my family,” she said in the now-deleted post. “I know you guys are happy now. To my fans, keep reppin me...Love you for LIFE.”
Minaj later clarified that she’s “still right here” and that the statement was “brupt & insensitive,” promising a later follow-up conversation on her Beats 1 show, Queen Radio. We’re still waiting!
