A24, the distributor behind Moonlight, has acquired the new movie about life in an Orlando motel.

Following his 2015 critically-acclaimed film about two trans women, Tangerine, writer-director Sean Baker is at work on a new movie, title The Florida Project. The film is to be distributed by A24, the company that backed Moonlight and 20th Century Women.

The Florida Project tells the story of a six-year-old girl named Moonee and her troubled mother Halley, both of whom live in an extended-stay motel in Orlando, Florida. The place is run by two-time Oscar nominee Willem Dafoe, who's likely to be a strong awards season contender for the role.

A24 has acquired quite a diverse slew of new work: in addition to The Florida Project, they've picked up the comedy Lady Bird, written and directed by Greta Gerwig, as well as the Kirsten Dunst-led thriller Woodshock, Nicole Kidman and Alicia Silverstone's new mystery, The Killing of a Sacred Deer, and James Franco's The Disaster Artist.
