Welcome back to the Out Newsletter!
It’s the Friday before the Oscars, so the Out Team is in full Award Season mode, doing research, writing articles, and attending events.
At Out this week we caught up with where the casts of a classic queer TV show and movie are, talked about Frank Ocean’s shopping habits, and interviewed Kristen Stewart and the other stars of Love Lies Bleeding.
This week my review of Julio Torres’ directorial debut film Problemista was published, and if you want to read all my movie reviews, please check them out on Rotten Tomatoes!
Are you going to be watching the Oscars with us this weekend? Get ready for some great coverage from the Out team if you do! Out.com editor Raffy Ermac will be there at the event, and staff writer Bernardo Sim and I will be hard at work writing the best coverage with a queer angle that the internet will have to offer!
Let’s dive into this week’s best pop culture stories and all your favorite newsletter features!

Fun Gay Things We Did This Week
Raffy and I went to the Love Lies Bleeding premiere. I’ve been absolutely obsessed with this movie since I saw it at Sundance earlier this year, and yes, that’s a quote from my review in the second trailer! The movie really will stick with you for the rest of your life. Queer celebs like Tig Notaro and Stephanie Allynne, Kerri Colby, Yvie Oddly, Brittani Nichols, and of course, Kristen Stewart and Katy O’Brian were there.
Raffy has also been busy going to pre-Oscars events, including the South Asians @ The Oscars pre-party, where he got to talk to Kal Penn!

Gayest Song of the Week
This week’s Gayest Song of the Week comes from rock band Rainbow Kitten Surprise, fronted by trans singer Ela Melo. The new track, "Superstar," comes after the band took a hiatus because of the lead singer’s medical issues and parted ways with bassist Charlie Holt. If you like classic alt rock in the vein of Smashing Pumpkins and Silversun Pickups, you’ll love this song!
Comment of the Week
Our comment of the week comes from the iconic Yvie Oddly, who retweeted our interview where Kristen Stewart called her new movie Love Lies Bleeding “an enormous lady boner,” saying ‘Can confirm. So hot I had lady wood all night.” We love you Yvie!!!
