Mama Ru is introducing a brand-new twist to RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 8: the Fame Games!

The first-ever Fame Games will be an opportunity for the eliminated queens on All Stars 8 to win a cash prize of $50,000 at the end of the competition. Here’s how it works: each week, the eliminated queens will get the chance to show their runway looks and ask the fans to vote for them. In the end, the viewers will get to vote on which eliminated contestant will be crowned the “Queen of the Fame Games.”

This is a brand-new twist that has never been seen in past seasons of All Stars. With that said, this second-tier grand prize does resemble the second-tier bracket of “She Done Already Done Had Herses” that took place on All Stars 7 and awarded Raja with a cash prize of $50,000.

This is the first-ever twist in a modern Drag Race season that allows fans to directly vote for a queen to win something on the show. Back in the day, there were opportunities for fans to vote for their favorite contestants in a regular season, for returning queens to get cast on All Stars 1, and even which queen should win Miss Congeniality at one point.

In recent seasons, the closest fans have gotten to “voting” for their favorites has been to use #Team hashtags on social media in order to signal which finalist they want to snatch the crown. The All Stars 8’s Fame Game twist is exciting, as it introduces a mechanism resembling the title of America’s Favorite Houseguest from Big Brother in the US.

We can’t wait to see how this turns out!

RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 8 premieres Friday, May 12 on Paramount+.
