This epic Brokeback Mountain reunion proves that the Gay Yeehaw Agenda is back

The Gay Yeehaw Agenda is officially coming back — and we’re not just talking about the new Beyoncé album.

This ain’t Texas.

Ever since Beyoncé announced the country-themed sequel to Renaissance and dropped songs like “Texas Hold ‘Em,” the gays have been fully immersing themselves back into the Yeehaw Agenda. Now, we’re apparently getting an exciting Brokeback Mountain reunion that truly wasn’t in our 2024 bingo cards!

Jake Gyllenhaal (who played Jack Twist) and Anne Hathaway (who played Jack’s wife, Lureen) have both been cast in the second season of Netflix’s Beef, as reported by Deadline. Just like in Brokeback Mountain, Gyllenhaal and Hathaway are playing a couple on Beef… so let’s just hope that Hathaway’s character isn’t a beard this time around!

The other couple that will be reportedly featured on Beef season 2 are Charles Melton (May December, Riverdale) and Cailee Spaeny (Priscilla, Mare of Easttown).

We obviously have to acknowledge that this isn’t the first time that Gyllenhaal and Hathaway are costarring in the same project after 2005’s Brokeback Mountain. In 2010, these two actors also played a couple in the Edward Zwick-directed rom-com film Love & Other Drugs.

While it is unlikely that there’ll be anything queer in this upcoming season of Beef with Gyllenhaal and Hathaway, the long-standing Brokeback Mountain stans are still very excited to see this reunion!

The first season of Beef is now streaming on Netflix.
