Are Sam Smith and Madonna cooking up a surprise?
Both Smith and Madonna have taken to Instagram to tease a new S&M collaboration! There’s not much revealed right now, other than the two artists posting a black square with white letters reading “S X M” and “Sam and Madonna” with an accompanying audio of the two sexily whispering their names.
It’s barely anything, but honestly this is a vibe!
Smith also took to their Instagram stories to tease a little bit more. In the same font as the names, they made a story saying “Manchester we’ve got a surprise for you this evening. ‘Unholy’ won’t be the last song…”
It seems like the lucky Manchester audiences will be the first to hear this Sam and Madonna collab!
Smith is one of today’s pop superstars, with their current album Gloria getting rave reviews and their duet with Kim Petras “Unholy” winning the Grammy for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance. And of course, Madonna is the current and forever Queen of Pop.
Madonna has been known for pushing sexual and gender boundaries for decades, and now, Smith is one of the most famous nonbinary musicians on the planet. They’re both queer icons. It’s a natural pairing.
The two recently teamed up when Smith and Kim Petras when the pop idol introduced the pair for their performance of “Unholy” at the Grammys. In her introduction, she thanked the “rebels” and “troublemakers” who forge new paths and create controversy.
“So now, speaking of controversy,” she said. “It gives me great pleasure to introduce two incredibly talented artists who have risen above the noise, the doubt, the critics into something beautifully unholy.”
We can’t wait to see what kind of beautifully unholy music these two artists can make!
