All jokes aside, the 2025 Grammy nominations made it clear that we're about to experience the most queer-friendly Grammy Awards ceremony in years — and we couldn't be more excited for it! An even bigger gag is the number of LGBTQ+ nominees who'll be competing for a Grammy Award for the first time in their entire careers.
Scroll through to check out the LGBTQ+ artists who just became first-time Grammy nominees — and make sure to watch the 67th Grammy Awards on February 2, 2025!
Chappell Roan (6 nominations)
Chappell Roan has officially secured her first-ever Grammy nomination. As a first-timer, it's even more impressive that she's already coming in as one of the top contenders for the 2025 Grammy Awards with a total of six nominations overall.
Namely, Roan has been nominated for categories such as Best New Artist, Album of the Year (The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess), Record of the Year ("Good Luck, Babe!"), Song of the Year ("Good Luck, Babe!"), Best Pop Solo Performance ("Good Luck, Babe!"), and Best Pop Vocal Album (The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess).
2024 has truly been the year of Chappell Roan, so all we can say to the other nominees is... good luck, babes!
Doechii (4 nominations)
Doechii is also coming in hot for the 2025 Grammy awards. Despite this being her first time receiving any Grammy nomination, the rapper is competing in four different categories: Best New Artist, Best Rap Performance ("Nissan Altima"), Best Rap Album (Alligator Bites), and Best Remixed Recording (the KAYTRANADA remix of "Ego").
Willow (2 nominations)
Another very exciting first-time Grammy nominee is Willow (a.k.a. Willow Smith), who was nominated for Best Arrangement, Instruments, and Vocals (with the song "Big Feelings") and Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical (with the album Empathogen).
Durand Bernarr (1 nomination)
Singer-songwriter Durand Bernarr has been nominated for his first-ever Grammy Award at the 2025 ceremony. Bernarr's EP, En Route, is competing in the Best Progressive R&B Album category.
Clairo (1 nomination)
The Best Alternative Album category at the 2025 Grammy Awards includes Clairo's latest album, Charm, in the nominations list. A LONG overdue nomination for Clairo, but we're glad that it's finally happened.
