Winter Olympics 2026: All the queer athletes who won medals

We are the champions! With nearly 50 out athletes competing, the Milan Cortina Games are the gayest yet.

There are nearly 50 out athletes competing at the 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Olympics, and after the first weekend of events, several have already won medals.

Queer athletes come to the Olympics this year from countries like the U.S., Canada, Great Britain, Finland, Sweden, Brazil, Belgium, Austria, Czechia, France, Germany, Italy, and Switzerland, and are competing in sports as varied as speed skating and hockey to skiing, figure skating, and skeleton.

As the Games continue from February 6 to February 22, Out will update this list with all the queer medalists.

Breezy Johnson - Gold - Team USA

Bisexual freestyle skier Breezy Johnson was competing in her first Olympics after qualifying in 2022, but missed out due to an injury. She won the gold medal in her first event, the women's downhill run.

Amber Glenn - Gold - Team USA

Pansexual figure skater Amber Glenn picked up her first medal, a gold, as part of Team USA's Figure Skating Team Event. She also represented the U.S. in the Women's Single Skating - Free Skating event.

Mathilde Gremaud - Gold - Switzerland

Swiss freestyle skier Mathilde Gremaud is competing in her third Olympics. She previously won a silver in Slopestyle at the Pyeongchang Olympics, a bronze in Big Air and gold in Slopestyle in Beijing, and now won the gold medal again in Women's Slopestyle at Milan.

Guillaume Cizeron - Gold - France

Controversial figure skater Guillaume Cizeron and his skating partner Laurence Fournier Beaudry won the gold medal in ice dance. Cizeron, who previously won gold in the same event in 2022, was accused by his former skating partner, Gabriella Papadakis, of being "controlling" and "demanding" during their partnership.

Paul Poirier - Bronze -  Canada

Out figure skater Paul Poirier and his skating partner, Piper Gilles took home the bronze medal in ice dance. This is Poirier's fourth Olympics, and his third skating with Gilles.

Hilary Knight, Alex Carpenter, Cayla Barnes, Caroline Harvey - Gold - USA

Knight (jersey number 21), Carpenter (25), Barnes (3), and Harvey (4) won the gold medal along with the rest of Team U.S.A. in women's hockey.

Marie-Philip Poulin, Laura Stacey, Emerance Maschmeyer, Emily Clark, Erin Ambrose, Brianne Jenner, Daryl Watts - Silver - Canada

Poulin (jersey number 29), Stacey (7), Maschmeyer (38), Clark (26), Ambrose (23), Jenner (19) and Watts (95) lost to the U.S. 2-1 in overtime in the championship game, winning the silver medal.

Laura Zimmermann - Bronze - Switzerland

Zimmermann (number 11) won bronze with the rest of Team Switzerland in women's hockey.

Bruce Mouat - Silver - Great Britain

Scottish curling star Bruce Mouat led Team Great Britain to a silver medal in the men’s team event at the 2026 Winter Games. This is the second time Mouat has taken home silver, having previously helped his team win at the 2022 Beijing Olympics.

Sandra Näslund - Bronze - Sweden

Freestyle skier Sandra Näslund took home a bronze medal in women’s ski cross for Team Sweden at the 2026 Milano Cortina Olympics, after winning gold at the 2022 Winter Olympics.
