We want to spend our summer at this Theater Camp!
The first trailer for the upcoming comedy Theater Camp, written by friends Noah Galvin, Molly Gordon, Nick Leiberman, and Ben Platt, and directed by Lieberman and Gordon, has arrived!
The movie takes place at Adirond Acts, a summer theater camp where a group of talented and ambitious kids spend their time singing, doing mask work, putting on plays, and bonding.
Platt and Gordon star as Amos and Rebecca-Diane – lifelong best friends and drama instructors at a rundown camp in upstate New York. When clueless tech bro Troy (Jimmy Tatro) arrives to run the property (into the ground), Amos, Rebecca-Dianne, and production manager Glenn (Noah Galvin) band together with the staff and students, staging a masterpiece to keep their beloved summer camp afloat.
The trailer is hilarious, and filled with the kind of humor that will make any lover of the theater crack up.
“We’re gonna need to prioritize the musicals which means the straight plays are gonna have to be acoustic,” Glenn tells Troy in one scene. “Quick question: what’s a straight play?” he responds.
“There are musicals and then there are straight plays,” Glenn says.
“So then what would be a gay play?”
“I guess… um, a musical,” he replies. Perfect!
Anyone who spent any part of their life as a theater kid, loving musicals and plays, or a gay person is sure to love this movie!
Theater Camp also stars Patti Harrison, Nathan Lee Graham, Ayo Edebiri, Owen Thiele, Caroline Aaron, and Amy Sedaris. It will be released in theaters on July 14th.
