This is a mother-off for all-time.
The first trailer for the upcoming film Mother’s Instinct has dropped, and Anne Hathaway and Jessica Chastain are reminding us all what a true mother is.
Mother’s Instinct is a psychological thriller that’s a remake of a French film of the same name, which was adapted from the 2012 novel also of the same name. It follows two 1960s housewives who bond over raising their young sons. When tragedy strikes and Hathaway’s character’s son dies in an accident, their entire worlds come crashing down.
The trailer for the movie dives immediately into the insecurities that come with being a mother. “When Theo was born, I couldn’t even hold him,” Chastain admits. “I was afraid I was gonna drop him.” Thankfully, she has Hathaway there to remind her that she’s a great mother and great friend.
Then, Hathaway’s son dies after falling off a porch when Chastian tried to save him. As Chastain’s guilt builds, and Hathaway becomes more strange, their friendship starts to spiral into something much more sinister.

Fittingly, the gay part of the internet is going absolutely feral for this film. With two of the top actresses of our era facing off opposite each other while wearing stunning ’60s dresses, how could we not?

"Mother's Instinct" is going to be saturation therapy for gay guys whose only vocabulary are variations on "mother." Like a parent who makes their kid smoke a whole pack of cigarettes to teach them a lesson.
