Kristen Stewart cannot stop staring at Katy O’Brian’s muscles in the first trailer for Rose Glass’ (Saint Maud) sexy and dark lesbian thriller Love Lies Bleeding.
The official synopsis for the film says it's “an electric new love story; reclusive gym manager Lou (Stewart) falls hard for Jackie (O’Brian), an ambitious bodybuilder headed through town to Vegas in pursuit of her dream. But their love ignites violence, pulling them deep into the web of Lou’s criminal family.”
It’s an intense trailer full of muscles, lesbianism, crime, dead bodies, and mullets. As we see Lou and Jackie getting closer to each other, Lou’s world starts to unravel. Soon, she and Jackie have gone from making out in a bathroom to trying to dispose of a body together.
Ed Harris also shows up, playing Lou’s father, a crime lord with a creepy haircut who loves guns and causing trouble. He makes an excellent foil to Stewart and O’Brian and we cannot wait to see this faceoff.
Love Lies Bleeding is one of the most highly anticipated films coming to the 2024 Sundance Film Festival, and based on this trailer, it could be an early contender for awards next year.Katy O’Brian stars in Rose Glass’ ‘LOVE LIES BLEEDING.’

I could spend an entire article writing just about Katy O’Brian in this preview. When we talk about the Lesbian Gaze, this is what we mean. Her character is built, ripped, stacked, and sexy in a way that specifically queer women will love.
Female movie stars have never gotten to look like this before. Women with super strength usually look more like Brie Larson and Gal Gadot, and buff and tough women usually look more like Michelle Rodriguez and Charlize Theron.
Even Marvel’s recent She-Hulk TV show didn’t have women with O’Brian’s body type. With her broad shoulders, Dorito body-type, and genuinely huge muscles, she’s a new type of movie star and a new type of sex symbol. Loves Lies Bleeding also stars Dave Franco and will debut at the Sundance Film Festival in January. It will hit theaters on March 8.
