Get ready to gag!!!
When we found out that Joker: Folie à Deux was going to be a musical starring the icon Lady Gaga, we were immediately interested, and now that we’ve heard some of her singing for the film, we’re even more excited!
Gaga can’t be seen in the video, but it’s definitely her voice that we can hear! And it’s not much, but this little taste of a song is enough to get us excited all over again for the movie!
“🚨 LADY GAGA CANTANDO NO SET DE "JOKER: FOLIE À DEUX" - #Joker2 🎬🃏”— Joker Folie News (@Joker Folie News) 1680146595
The song is jazzy, which fits in perfectly with Gaga’s voice. It’s also a good choice for musical numbers in a Joker-styled world. When you watched Chicago did you want to see the murders graphically depicted on screen? Joker 2 might be for you!
Hildur Guðnadóttir (Tar, Chernobyl, Women Talking) wrote the score for the first film and won the Oscar for it, and is returning for the sequel. It’s unknown at this point if she is writing the songs, if Gaga has some part in writing them, or if someone else is writing them.
Gaga has also won an Oscar and been nominated for two more for her songwriting for films. She was nominated for “Till it Happens to You” from The Hunting Ground and “Hold My Hand” from Top Gun: Maverick, and won for “Shallow” from A Star is Born.
This will be the first major superhero movie to also be a musical, pushing the genre into new, interesting directions that could revitalize a type of movie that has become tiresome in recent years and has led to many superhero movies underperforming at the box office.
Will Lady Gaga’s songs be what it takes to catapult Joker 2 past the already impressive $1.074 billion that the original made? We hope, and think, so!
