Barbie & Ken Discover the Real World in New Barbie Main Trailer

She's everything. He's just Ken. This movie is perfection.

We’re all Barbie girls, in a Barbie world!

The Barbie main trailer was just released today, and we are living for this! Barbie is definitely our movie of the summer — and maybe even of the year!

This trailer gives us a great look into the actual plot of the movie, which seems to follow Barbie (Margot Robbie) as she experiences an existential crisis leading her perfect life in Barbie Land to become not-so-perfect.

This leads to her invisible shower water being cold, her falling out of her house, and even (god forbid!) her feet going flat! (All the other Barbies’ reaction to her feet is HILARIOUS!!!)

After going to visit Kate McKinnon’s Weird Barbie, she learns she has to go to the Real World to find out the truth of life. Of course, since Ken’s whole world revolves around Barbie, he joins her!

Unfortunately, once they get to the real world, Barbie and Ken end up getting arrested, running from Will Ferrell, learning that a lot of kids give up on playing with Barbies, and getting sexually harassed.

The trailer also has some iconic musical moments, including a snippet of Dua Lipa’s new song, Barbie singing along to the Indigo Girls’ “Closer to Fine,” and a tease of a new Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice song that samples Aqua’s seminal hit “Barbie Girl!”

This preview also gives us plenty of great looks at some of the queer stars of Barbie, including Alexandra Shipp, Hari Nef (who has some hilarious line reads in the trailer), and Kate McKinnon.

Barbie also stars Helen Mirren, America Ferrera, Ncuti Gatwa, Scott Evans, Simu Liu, Issa Rae, and more. It releases in theaters on July 21.
