It's actually insane.
If you're ready for your next zombie film, wait no longer.
In his latest feature, Zach Snyder, he of the four-hour "Snyder cut," offers up a zombie-heist film with Army of the Dead. The beginning of a new Netflix franchise, the latest trailer for the movie is absolutely bonkers. And we love it?
The project is Snyder's debut of Netflix and revolves around a group of mercenaries who plot a heist of a Las Vegas casino. The issue: it's the middle of a zombie outbreak. Dave Bautista, Theo Rossi, Garret Dillahunt, Raul Castillo, Omari Hardwick, Hiroyuki Sanada, Matthias Schweighofer, Ana de la Reguera, and Ella Purnell all play parts. Oh, and there's one Tig Notaro.
Notaro, who plays a pilot in the film, was added to the cast after the original actor for the role, Chris D'Elia, was accused of sexual misconduct by several women. Notaro was then cast and reshot various scenes, digitally spliced into the film. Much of the role remains the same.
The trailer comes packed with an undead Elvis impersonator, zombie hordes, and even a zombie tiger. It seems that the zombies here are smart as opposed to the unthinking masses we generally see portrayed.
The film will begin streaming on Netflix on May 21. The larger franchise is set to include an anime series and a prequel movie.
