Get ready for metallic fabrics in every color of the spectrum
Photography by Jason Kim / Styling by Brent Austin Coover
The return of Blade Runner and a new Star Wars episode in the making are clear signs: Sci-fi in its most extravagant 20th-century expression is back. A wave of retro-futurism radiated the recent collections of Burberry Prorsum, Lanvin, and Versace, resulting in a display of metallic fabrics in every color of the spectrum. With a lightness reminiscent of Pierre Cardin's visionary designs from the '60s, classic tailoring adorned with lame and Lurex is injecting 2013 with a breath of fresh cosmic air, and the high street is catching on.
