Past and future collide—beautifully—in this latest collaboration.
Since 1860 the folks at British-based label Sunspel have been the purveyors of understated elegance and high-quality basics. Think quintessential underwear, t-shirts, sleepwear, and the like. But just because the brand is steeped in heritage doesn't mean that they're stuck in a rut. In fact, Sunspel prides itself on continually evolving--"review and refine," is how they put it--to make sure that their product is at the forefront of the industry. Their latest endeavor to stay true to that mission is a partnership with the polymathic media company Monocle. Under the direction of Tyler Brule, Monocle continually seeks to keep its followers up-to-date on the latest innovations in design, world affairs, fashion, and beyond. This includes a print magazine, a radio station, and retail shops that offer a discerning selection of sophisticated curios. These two forces have come together for a special collaboration, creating stylish riffs on the classic Sunspel briefs. The styles feature the evergreen nautical stripe, bringing just a touch of whimsy to the quintessential garment. Not too fussy and not too plain, this meeting of the minds is perfectly matched.
Sunspel X Monocle Briefs, $49.00, is available at Sunspel and in limited-editions at Monocle stores worldwide.
