Leave it to global fashion platform SSENSE to fuse art, fashion, and music to create the installation of the future.
Over the weekend, SSENSE opened their new flagship, SSENSE MONTREAL. But in line with the brand's directional mix of retail and original content, the space extends far beyond a traditional retail shop.
The purpose of the location, a 13,000 square-foot, five-story 19th Century building designed by David Chipperfield Architects, is to blend technology and interactivity with fashion, where you book an appointment to experience the space and after 24-hours of scheduling, have access to the over 20,000 products on ssense.com to try on in the flagship with SSENSE stylists.
To commemorate the opening of the state-of-the-art locale, SSENSE launched their inaugural project with queer electronic producer and performer ARCA, entitled ARCA/Tormenta for Prada & SSENSE in conjunction with his exclusive four-piece Prada capsule line.
A performance-meets-installation experience, it explores the integration of various self-states. According to SSENSE, "Tormenta is framed in three distinct and interdependent rituals that converge to exercise the permeable connective tissue separating the once-repressed and the manifest, the embodied; a strengthening of the thin film between self-love and self-harm."
While ARCA performed in the space over the weekend (check it out), anyone can experience the installation (which was creative directed with Carlos Saez) through May 3, 2018. And if you're not in the area, you can experience it all online here.
