The former head of Givenchy has moved on to another iconic fashion house.

After his 12-year run as the guiding force of Givenchy, the entire fashion world was waiting to see where Riccardo Tisci would go next. In a surprising move, Tisci has been announced as the new Chief Creative Office at Burberry, replacing Christopher Bailey, whose final show took place only two weeks ago.

Tisci's glamorous, hard-edged take on sportswear isn't exactly the look we think of when it comes to the Burberry, but perhaps some new blood is needed to shake things up at the iconic fashion house.

"I am honored and delighted to be joining Burberry as its new Chief Creative Officer. I have an enormous respect for Burberry's British heritage and I am excited about the potential of this exceptional brand," Tisci said in a statement.

The designer's first Burberry collection will walk the runway in September.
