It’s official! Don Mancini, the creator of the Child’s Play horror franchise — which features the smart-mouthed, orange-haired, overall-wearing, and slightly murderous doll Chucky — took to X on Election Day to settle the debate over the character’s political leanings.

“Chucky has a trans kid,” Mancini wrote, in an apparent reference to the 2004 film Seed of Chucky, which features the doll’s genderfluid offspring Glen/Glenda. “Chucky protects the dolls. Chucky is anti-ICE. Chucky says ‘A BLUE WAVE is coming, as BLUE as my f**kin’ eyes!”

Mancini was responding to a post from relatively recent MAGA recruit Nicki Minaj, who’s known for her affinity for the doll and the Child’s Play films. The “Super Bass” singer posted an AI-generated photo of Chucky sitting in an office wearing a pink suit with a “Vote Red,” button affixed to his lapel earlier on November 3. Her caption read, “HAPPY ELECTION DAY!!! ♥️🇺🇸✨,” encouraging her supporters to vote for Republicans during the U.S. midterm elections.

Later, when the full extent of Tuesday night’s blue tsunami was becoming clear, Mancini chimed in with a bit of gloating.

The dispute has been making rounds across the internet with Chucky fans eating up Mancini’s roast of Minaj.

In response, one user posted an iconic clip of the character from the recent television adaption of the franchise entitled, Chucky. In the clip Chucky talks to another character about his and his doll “bride” Tiffany’s unwavering support of their child Glen/Glenda, saying, “I’m not a monster, Jake.” The user captioned it, “CHUCKY ENDED MAGA BARBIE.”

Minaj, who has expressed disapproval and hostility toward the trans community, including recent comments made at an October 25 Trump rally, did not seem to realize that her beloved Chucky is actually a trans ally.

The rapper’s adoration for the character and franchise has been publicly documented as early as 2010 when she included a reference to the doll in her verse on Kanye West’s “Monster.” In 2019, Minaj and her husband, Kenneth Petty, who was convicted of attempted rape in 1995, shared photos in costume as Chucky and Tiffany for Halloween.

Since the exchange with Mancini, Minaj has not posted to her X account as of this writing. It seems she and Chucky may not be a match after all.
