A Magazine Curated By Eckhaus Latta
High above the stressed out crowds powerwalking through Manhattan's streets for NYFW, an intimate, poolside party left the raging and rappers usually found at other parties at the door. Though, the tonal shift wasn't entirely unsurprising given that the party at Hotel Americano was in celebration of Eckhaus Latta, the fashion house whose runway show this season was as thoughtful and engaging as it was an art piece.
It was this attentive, accomplished sense of design that brought Mike Eckhaus and Zoe Latta to the attention of the Parisian fashion periodical A Magazine Curated By which, as you may have guessed from the title, is curated by a rotating list of editors. Following in the very fashionable footsteps of past designers that include Maison Martin Margiela, Thom Browne and Gucci's Alessandro Michele, Eckhaus and Latta were chosen by A Mag's Editor in Chief, Dan Thawley, and Editor at Large, Blake Abbie, to curate the 17th edition. Within its pages, Eckhaus Latta took the traditional magazine format and gave their own twisted take to everything from horoscopes and crosswords to archival fashion spreads and food editorials.
At the launch party for the issue, a mix of industry insiders and artsy, fashion-obsessed kids settled into the luxurious poolside venue and danced to DJs that included nightlight mainstay Lafawndah, flipped through the special edition of the magazine, and drank a vodka called Zirvoka, who donate part of their proceeds to LGBTQ causes. For the magazine's first New York party, the evening proved to be a rousing success and a testament to Eckhaus Latta's artful, queer energy.
