It's about time Channing Tatum made his Marvel debut! The actor will star in a feature film about the X-Men superhero Gambit. Does this mean that Taylor Kitsch, who last played the Rajin' Cajun is silently plotting against Chan somewhere?
Speculation about the role has been going on for months, but X-Men producer Lauren Shuler Donner finally put the talk to rest. "Well you know, he's a rogue--Channing--he's a rascal, just like Remy LeBeau," said Donner, "and he can handle the action--we all know that! And he's got a really good heart."
If you're a little rusty on names, Gambit's the one who wears a vamp cape, fights with a long staff (hmm...), and throws kinetically charged playing cards at people. He's pretty rad. He also had a romance with Rogue in previous storylines. That all said, Gambit is typically depicted as lanky in the comics, and as we know pretty well, Tatum is kind of a beef-head. But hey, maybe the hunky leading man can convince us.
Gambit is set to release in October 2016, just three months after the Marvel sequel X-Men: Apocalypse.
