The actress trades in her orange jumpsuit for guest spot on the MTV series
On Tuesday, Laverne Cox will make her debut on the hit MTV series, Faking It, as Margot, Hester High's demanding drama teacher. This is the first major role outside of Orange Is the New Black for the actress, who earned an Emmy nomination earlier this year.
On the series, she will share the screen with Michael J. Willett (Shane), Katie Stevens (Karma), and Bailey De Young (Lauren) as she puts the students through their paces. "When I read it, I was really excited. Some of my first ballet teachers when I was young were over-the-top, huge personalities," Cox tells Entertainment Weekly about the part. "It's something that I feel like I know really well and I love. It just felt right. Margot is so theatrical and I did a lot of theater back in the day."

The character is certainly a departure from Sophia on OITNB. "She's completely different than anything I've gotten to play before," Cox says.
And that didn't stop her from having fun on set. "My favorite part about having [Cox] on set was that every time the camera stopped rolling she'd broke out into song and dance," Stevens tells Out. "It was amazing."
Stevens wasn't the only one who enjoyed having the actress on set. The entire cast had a "fan girl moment," especially Willett says Cox left them with some special advice: "You're there to be a channel for the creativity that's about to happen on camera."
Faking It airs Tuesdays at 10:30/9:30 c on MTV.
