Now that Second Stages' Off-Broadway production of the musical adaptation of popular indie film Little Miss Sunshine--from the Tony Award-winning team of James Lapine and William Finn--is in previews, we're happy to get a glimpse of the cast, which includes cutie kid Hanna Rose Nordberg in the starring role.
"It seems appropriate to kick off this landmark season with a musical about optimism and resiliency, two qualities that are crucial for any not-for-profit theatre celebrating its past while also looking to its future," Carole Rothman, Second Stage artistic director, tells Playbill. "I can't wait to introduce this exuberant, funny, and sophisticated new musical to our audience."
Will Swenson (Priscilla: Queen of the Desert) has replaced Will Chase (who got a role on Nashville) in the role of the father. And typically clean-cut Rory O'Malley (The Book of Mormon and Out100 honoree) has gotten scruffy as gay uncle Frank Hoover, who unexpectedly crosses paths with Wesley Taylor (Smash, Rock of Ages), who plays his character's ex-lover, and Josh Lamon.
It's now in previews and opens Nov. 14.
