After a brief hiatus, Michael Bastian brought his eponymous line's upscale take on American classics back to the runway for Spring 2012 just a few weeks ago. As WWDreports, the past year has been an especially interesting year for Bastian as he took some time off to rethink his approach to his own clothing label, hoping to pare back its notoriously expensive prices while maintaining its laid-back luxuriousness, while still taking home the CFDA Award for menswear back in June -- life's funny like that.
Perhaps that intrinsic optimism is why Bastian has never veered far from his chipper vision. Take for example his showing for Gant during New York Fashion Week -- a collection entitled "Sunshine Days" and inspired by the perenially gleeful Brady Bunch. By channeling the TV family's Hawaiian vacation into a modern aesthetich, the designer found a bright, cheerful, and (dare we say it?) sexy collection.
