Brooklyn Workshop, home to the inventors of the curious Skatecycle -- which is a strange contraption that is essentially self-propelled, hubless skateboard -- will be enlisting the help of 13 artists to create custom Skatecycles for sale, from which all proceeds will go to Global Giving in support of the Japanese earthquake relief effort. The one-of-a-kind Skatecycles will be sold exclusively on Gilt Groupe's Gilt MAN on Thursday, June 23, 2011. For those of you in NYC, though, a preview of the customized, tricked-out skateboard thing-a-majigs will be on display starting Thursday June 16th, 7:00pm - 11:00pm, at The Levarek Gallery (91 Second Avenue, between 6th and 7th Streets), so you can get an exclusive first look before the goods go up for auction on Gilt.
