Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen may be most well known for their childhood fame on Full House or their bevy of A-list friends and lovers, but lately, the young ladies have been focusing their attentions on fashion design. They have a contemporary label called Elizabeth and James and a higher-end label named The Row. While most people rolled their eyes when the heard the Olsens would take a swing at designing, The Row has actually garnered the duo a lot of critical praise and, more importantly, commercial sales. The Olsens did the completely unexpected and created a totally graceful and simple collection with an emphasis on quality materials and versatility, and cut out any fussiness or branding -- a celebrity line downfall. The line, which is deceptively plain but still engrossing, has since become a hit of fashionistas and celebrities alike.
Yesterday, the diminutive gals announced that they would be releasing their latest men's collection on their website. We, of course, had to check it out. The clothing shown is in line with their womenswear philosophy of less-is-more, with simple t-shirts in a cotton/cashmere blend and leather detailing. The pants are slim and subtle and the jackets are sporty but casual. The only problem with the new line? T-shirts start at $250 and jackets can cost upwards of a grand. Basically, you'd need to be an Olsen twin to be able to afford the it.
