The Kids Are All Right opened in limited release last Friday, and the film's opening weekend numbers were great. It grossed $505,000 on just seven screens, resulting in a per screen average of $72,143! To put that into perspective, Despicable Me, the country's top grossing film, had a per screen average of only $17,295.
Kids is currently playing in four cities (New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, and San Francisco), but will continue to expand each Friday in July, hoping to capitalize on excellent reviews and positive word-of-mouth. Could this dramedy about a lesbian family become the summer's surprise break-out hit?
