Andrew Mukamal: New York Fashion Week Day 1

Hello New York Fashion week! So, the day kicked off with the tragic and devastating news of the untimely death of Alexander McQueen. While this proved to be the news of the day, us fashion folk continued to trek around the snow covered city from event to event.

People's Revolution kicked off fashion week with a Mara Hoffman presentation last night and I must say that all of us had an awesome time prepping and working around Mara's beautiful A/W 2010/2011 collection. I showed up to the presentation, with my girls Ava and Nana, just in time to watch the models taking their positions in a circular formation, standing on large clear plastic platforms. As live tribal music and smoke, via dry ice, filled the space, guests admired Mara's beautifully printed jewel tone dresses and leggings.



Next I was off to Resurrection's "20 years of Maison Martin Margiela" event in the west village, where a young fashion crowd admired an incredible collection of Margiela's masterpieces that lined the walls of the two floor space. Just as the last drinks were served I was whisked off to the LNA party at Milk Studios, which seemed to be the "it" destination for everyone to reconnect and recap their days over stiff drinks, of course. Although I had had quite a long day and was totally buzzed, somehow I was dragged to B.East for a nightcap. I woke up to half a dozen missed calls from Kelly, threw on my Givenchy lace-up A/W '10 pants and my favorite Christopher Kane gorilla T-shirt, and jumped on the 6 train.
