If you're not in New York City but you still want a taste of Fashion Week early next month, tune in to CBS on September 7th at 9:00pm for Fashion Rocks, a live broadcast of performances by some of the music industry's most fashionable musicians--at least, that's how its being described.
Fashion Rocks is meant to celebrate the hopelessly codependent relationship between fashion and music.
The evening of fashion and music will be hosted by Entourage star, Jeremy Piven and will include performaces by:
Aerosmith, Alicia Keys, Avril Lavigne, Carrie Underwood, Fall Out Boy, Fergie, Jennifer Hudson, Jennifer Lopez, Ludacris, Maroon 5, Martina McBride, Santana, and Usher.
More will be announced as the day of the event draws near, but this is already a strange list of "fashionable" celebrities. I wouldn't include Aerosmith, Avril Lavigne, Fall Out Boy, Ludacris or Santana as fashion icons in the music industry. Well, Santana does have a line of womens shoes but his own style is a little wacky at best.
My big sister at Popnography informed me that Pete Wentz of Fall Out Boy does have his own line of clothes and a line of jeans for DKNY but what's so fashionable about greasy hair and frumpy t-shirts? No thanks!
And Ludacris? What does he wear other than oversized t-shirts and shorts. Avril Lavigne just shops at Hot Topic. What's so great about that? Oh well. The show should still be fun to watch.
Let's hope that Madonna signs on!
