For all the popheads wondering, the wait may finally be over. It seems like another CupcakKe and SOPHIE collaboration is on its way.
Earlier this week, CupcakKe surprised her dedicated fanbase-dubbed as the Slurpers-when she tweeted a photo of her and the avant-garde producer at Ladyland Festival in Brooklyn, where both artists performed over the weekend as part of Ladyfag's first queer music festival.
The Chicago rapper later went on Instagram Live to tease fans of a possible collaboration with SOPHIE, as well as hinting towards a future music video for her latest single, "Hot Pockets," and another song she describes as even more insane than the raunchy, envelope-pushing "Duck Duck Goose" from her latest album, Ephorize.
The individual talents of the two previously joined forces with Charli XCX on the saccharinely sexy track "Lipgloss" off her mixtape, Number 1 Angel.
Since then, both artists have split their time between working on their respective albums and touring to manic crowds either chanting to CupcakKe's unapologetically provocative lyrics or dancing along to SOPHIE's amorphous productions in her eclectic DJ sets.
Each artist is notable for their anti-status-quo style and for continually featuring on Charli XCX's other projects.
However, this chance encounter of rap excellence and PC Music royalty could mark the first time we hear the two feed off only each other's unique approach to creating sonic masterpieces.
